The Client

WhiteLight Systems successfully developed and implemented a variety of analytical, risk analysis applications for banks and financial institutions in the U.S. and internationally. The suite of products allowed clients to accelerate and streamline the process of building analytic applications that drive critical business decisions. It enabled companies to both understand historical data and explore potential future actions and outcomes using interactive analysis.

The Project

The company wanted to focus their core technical team on mission-critical application development and establish a relationship with an experienced IT outsourcing organization that could augment their in-house quality assurance team. The task was to develop automated regression test scripts and perform functional testing for the risk analysis products. These products had long development cycles and Whitelight required a relationship with an organization that could provide a stable team for approximately three years with minimal turnover.

Scope of Work
A six member team was dedicated exclusively to the client for 3 years
A test plan was developed that focused on testing:
Regression
Functional
Graphical User Interface (GUI)
Minimum acceptance (MATS)
Automated scripts were developed for the client
Client-developed scripts were audited by the NIT test team
Scripts were run on a large number of databases
A bug database was created and used for client communications

Silk Test 5.0.1/5.0.3.2, Object Oriented 4-Test Script, Source Offsite /VSS, pcAnywhere.

Result

WhiteLight was able to deliver robust products to the marketplace on an accelerated time schedule and keep core engineering staff focused on mission-critical application development. The flexibility of using the NIT Extended Development Centre allowed the company to scale up and scale down the resources deployed on projects to meet the demands of their marketplace.
